Chinese actress Wu Jin Yan was born in Chengdu, China, and grew up here. At the age of 3, she began studying ballet and she moved from her hometown to train in 2000 at the Dance School Affiliated with Beijing Dance Academy.

After 7 years of boarding school, Wu joined the National Ballet of China, where she suffered repeated fractures in her feet but because of injuries, she started her acting career. Officially, Wu Jin Yan joined Beijing Film Academy for higher studies in 2009, majoring in acting.
