It is scheduled to premiere in the mid-season replacement for the 2024–25 television season on CBS, as well as, available to stream on Paramount+. According to the interview of producer-director Larry Teng, Watson is intended to premiere on CBS in January 2025. The first episode will have its worldwide premiere at MIPCOM Cannes on 20 October 2024.

Morris Chestnut joined the cast of John Watson, a physician and former consulting detective who heads the Holmes Clinic in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. And then Rochelle Aytes joined the cast of Mary Morstan, a noted East Coast surgeon and Watson's ex-wife who currently serves as the clinic's Medical Director.
